Summer is officially here… so it’s time to kick back and delight in all it offers.
There’s something so special about Ontario summers. A sweetness in the air, the bustle of farmer’s markets. Fresh flowers, fresh produce. And of course, those cherished warm evenings enjoying food and fun with family and loved ones in our own backyards.
Here at Jill’s Table we believe summer entertaining and meal preparation can be easy and tasty, and with the Canada Day holiday quickly approaching it’s a good time to highlight some of our Canadian products that are ideal to have in your pantry at this time of year.

We’re big fans of Joe Beef spice blends and we’ve put their seasonings into a simple burger (recipe link below). We are also jazzed about Weekend at the Cottage BBQ sauce on burgers, but it can also be used as a sauce or marinade for just about anything.
When it comes to appetizers in the summer, the key word is easy. Easy apps leave you more time to really savour an afternoon or evening with guests.

With that in mind and in keeping with our Canadian theme, we’ve prepped a simple appy of shredded Rougie duck confit on a Leslie Stowe Raincoast Crisp cracker with Cows Creamery award-winning Canadian cheddar and our Jill’s Table Apple Tamarind Chutney. A link to the full recipe is below. You can serve this at room temperature and it’s also lovely when slightly warmed.

Speaking of honey, we are proud to have Sungold Wildflower Honey on our shelves. Andrew Meehan of Sungold also has a booth with his wonderful veggies at the Covent Garden Market Outdoor Farmer’s market. Do stop by when the market reopens next week! (They are closed July 1, as are we.)

To make summer even sweeter (and while we’re on the topic of bees), we are so pleased to let you know that we have Emma Bridgewater pottery back on our shelves. Of particular note are the Buttercup and Daisy and Bee patterns that pair beautifully with our French-made La Rocher bee glassware. We also have lots of bee-inspired linens that make great hostess and shower gifts.
Enjoy all that summer has to offer. Visit your local farmer’s markets and savour the bounty that surrounds us.
