As we get ready to usher in a New Year, I always enjoy reflecting on the past year and look forward to the next.
I’d like to thank you for your continued support of our small local business in 2023. Through ongoing downtown construction and multiple road detours, you remained loyal customers and I truly appreciate you.
The year ahead will a very special one for Jill’s Table; this October will mark our twenty-fifth year in business.
I started Jill’s Table in a tiny 500-square-foot space in Covent Garden Market in late 1999. After almost two years there, we jumped across King Street to our current location to expand our specialty food and kitchenware offerings, and build a kitchen in which to offer cooking classes. How quickly that time has gone by. To think... a quarter century already!
Here are some of the things my team and I are looking forward to in the year ahead:

- We're planning several celebratory product launches and special events
- I’ll be visiting trade shows across Canada and the U.S. to source more great products to share with you
- Ran, our culinary coordinator, will continue to work her magic creating new, enticing and diverse seasons of cooking classes to enjoy
- My Taste of Tuscany culinary tours in May are sold out, and there are a few open spots in the Taste of France tours to the south of France in early September. These trips are something I always look forward to.
...but before any of that, we have New Year's to celebrate! As always, we are here to welcome you at the store and help you find what you need to prepare for celebrations with family and friends. We've curated a small selection on the e-store of interesting and recommended food and drink products to help with party planning.
One of the treats I’ll be serving for New Year’s Eve is cheddar-wrapped olives, and the recipe is shared below.
I'll close with a final thought: gathering safely with loved ones to take in the joy of the season feels like an immense privilege this year. I am amazed by the level of caring and giving in our community; our Business Cares committee surpassed last year's food drive. I'm grateful, and hope the giving spirit continues into 2024.

CHEDDAR WRAPPED OLIVES

This has been in heavy rotation as a standby favourite ever since we served it at our 2018 Holiday Open House. A customer recommended wrapping cheddar shortbread dough around olives, and wow... it works fabulously. Tested (and tested, and tested!) with Jose Lou Anchovy-stuffed olives, a long-standing team pick product here at Jill's Table.
