December is unfolding in a wonderful way this year. Our annual family gathering to decorate the tree was early, and I’ve managed to share some time around it with friends and family, even before Christmas eve.
This year my family is returning to our traditional Christmas Eve gathering which I so look forward to. We’re hoping Santa will arrive to delight our young grandson, and I am planning on our usual feast of Asian dumplings, tourtière and meatballs.
There’s a much-needed feeling that things are falling into place this year. I hope the traditions and holiday moments you cherish are coming together for you too.

In seasonal food news, our much-anticipated annual shipment of Lucques olives from France arrived on time! These particular olives have a buttery, nutty flavour and an extraordinary texture that’s hard to resist. They are special; are not overly processed and therefore have a shorter shelf life than other olives. They won't be around for long, so pick up some jars to serve your holiday guests before a meal, pop in someone’s stocking, or have on hand for your New Year's Eve spread.
Also from France, we received a last-minute shipment of delicious chocolate covered walnuts, and from Spain our tasty chocolate covered figs. Find these and more on the stocking stuffer table. We love how these unique products make the holidays so special.

Looking for great last-minute gifts?
The Emile Henry pizza stone continues to be one of our most popular “go to” gifts from France. The set includes a pizza peel and cutter, and we have lots of great pizza cookbooks that can be the perfect add-on. (Because who doesn’t love pizza‽)

From Germany, this set of four Bavarian crystal mugs from Nachtmann have been a hit this year. They're especially lovely with a mulled cider or wine. Our colleague Brenda has also been enjoying hers with eggnog, so this an opportune moment to share my father’s eggnog recipe with you. It's a family favourite! Link below.
Also from Germany, Wüsthof knives are always a thoughtful and lasting gift. We have a great offer on a Classic 5-piece set with knife block that any cooking enthusiast or aspiring chef would be thrilled to receive.

Still stuck? For the hard-to-buy-for foodie on your list, cookbooks are always a safe bet. You can never have too many cookbooks. We’re particularly enamored by Eric Ripert’s Seafood Simple book, and are pleased to be able to share by arrangement with the publisher a great recipe for Provençal Fish Stew, below.
Still stuck? Well, for a truly extravagant and unforgettable gift, a few spots remain for Jill's A Taste of France culinary tour to the south of France in early September 2024. The Minervois is France's oldest wine producing region, nestled between the Pyrenees mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. It's charming and beautiful, and rich in history and culture. I can't wait to return.
Lastly, a few seasonal thanks: we are grateful once again this year to all of our suppliers and delivery teams who continue to keep us well stocked so we can help make your holidays special.
And I’m forever grateful to my amazing team at Jill’s Table. As the countdown to Christmas continues, we look forward to seeing you in the store.
From all of us at Jill’s Table, we wish you a peaceful and joyous holiday season.
— Jill

Jill’s dad was a well-known bartender in London during the 1950s through the 70s. He was famous for his holiday egg nog recipe. This scaled-down rendition is always a hit.
