I'm feeling a quiet optimism. It’s the anticipation of finally being able to gather with friends and family this season in a way that we haven’t done in more than two years.
|
At Jill's Table we are hearing about families who will be having their kids and grandkids coming “home” for the holidays. How wonderful is that?
Amidst that anticipation of gathering is the planning and preparation of special meals and dishes. We know how special food can be in making a gathering memorable. I know how important it is to get food preparation done ahead so you can spend more time visiting.
On that note, we asked our talented culinary co-ordinator Ran to come up with a special lasagna for the season (photo below) . Who doesn't love a baked lasagna just out of the oven? The best part is that it can be assembled ahead, and the Rummo lasagna noodles don't need precooking. The All-Clad lasagna pan doubles as a fabulous every day roasting pan, and the lid makes it terrific for easy transport.
If you are getting together for coffee with neighbours or want to have an extra treat on hand, Ran’s cranberry loaf (photo below) will be an excellent choice. This can be enjoyed right out of the oven or frozen and enjoyed later.

I have the privilege again this year of being on the steering committee for the Business Cares food drive in support of the London Food Bank. Sharing a meal with family is something many of us take for granted. Sadly visits to the Food bank are up 32%.
|
