There's nothing like a little dusting of snow to start making the season bright. I love holiday get-togethers, and each December I host a gathering for the Jill’s Table team at my home.
The sound of laughter fills the house as this talented and dedicated group gathers to enjoy a meal and holiday cheer together. This year we're adding a cookie exchange to the fun, and I’m looking forward to our delicious assortment of treats at the end of it all.

For my part, I'll be making my usual walnut crescents. Sweet treats are such an integral part of the holidays; often prepared with cherished recipes that have been handed down for generations.
For your holiday baking ingredients, Jill's Table is ready to help whether it be with fabulous Callebaut chocolate, Neilson Massey vanillas, or cultured butter from PEI. Baking with quality ingredients really does make a world a difference, even with timeless family favourites.

Even if you're not a baker, we can help find the perfect gift for the baker in your life. First, any baker would be thrilled to receive Mason Cash kitchenware of all kinds. Established in England in the 1800s, their coveted bowls are both functional and beautiful; the perfect vessels to mix all kinds of doughs and batters. Our shelves are well-stocked, and new this year from Mason Cash are prep bowls in lovely fresh colours, and some adorable measuring cups.

We recommend popping by the store to check out our complete baking section, chock full of lots and lots of great tools for bakers. And plenty of great kitchen linens, too.

If baking's not your cup of tea, not to worry... we're also your source for all sorts of next-level holiday sweets and delicacies. Treats from France, Italy and Spain are on hand to help make the most of your upcoming seasonal celebrations.

The holidays wouldn't be complete without our delectable French Goulibeur shortbreads. You haven't had a French butter cookie until you try this! Our best-selling variety is a gigantic shortbread housed in a rustic wooden crate. In the historic Poitou region of France, traditionally this giant cookie (called a Broyé du Poitou) is smashed with a fist at a party so everyone can enjoy a piece. Always a crowd-pleaser, it's a great potluck idea in a pinch!

Also new this year are gianduiotti from Favuzzi. These emblematic Italian chocolate delicacies are from the Piedmont region in northern Italy. With their extraordinary packaging, they are sure to be the perfect gift for any chocolate lover.

Another recipe! For this newsletter we've put together a simple, traditional recipe for mulled wine. Mulled wine is a nice change of pace for when people pop by for a cold winter’s eve visit.

Mulled Wine

Mulled wine is a huge hit when it’s really cold out. It’s particularly welcome after coming in from skiing or shoveling snow, and it makes a nice option for a winter party.

I want to let you know that I continue to be on the organizing committee for the Business Cares Food Drive. It’s been a privilege to be part of this amazing team that has raised much needed food and monies for the Food bank. This initiative also supports many of the organizations that the Food Bank supports.
We kicked off this year's campaign yesterday, Nov.28, at RBC Place. I hope you will consider helping this worthwhile cause. Here’s the link where you can contribute:
