Happy New Year!

Wednesday night is New Year's Eve. While planning for celebrations, I've been reflecting on highlights of the past year with gratitude and I'm looking ahead to 2026 with optimism.

As 2025 ends, Jill's Table wraps up our year of 25th anniversary celebrations. We were so appreciative of the incredible turnout to our holiday open houses this year, and your commitment to shopping local. Thank you for supporting the many great Canadian products we sell, and for visiting frequently despite the construction at Covent Garden Market.

2025 was a banner year for cooking classes, with three sold-out class seasons and the winter class season ahead also fully booked. Spring/summer and fall 2026 class plans are already well underway.
But before any of that, January is when grant applications open for our foundation. Started in 2012, the foundation supports food-related initiatives that help women and children. If there's any organization you think could benefit from our help I'd invite you to share this foundation link with them. Stay tuned for more details.

And before that, of course, is New Year's Eve! If you're looking for ideas to help you celebrate, here are a few.
New Year's Eve
For New Year's Eve, I’ll be serving one of my go-to party treats: a simple crostini with delicious Madame Loïk whipped cheese with West Coast smoked salmon.

I’m also considering putting Madame Loïk on baby potato halves sprinkled with Mujjol Shikran caviar. This is very easy to prepare and is delicious. Here's the recipe. Caviar is all the rage this year!

If you are planning a charcuterie board, we have many wonderful cheeses, cured meats, olives, nuts and more in store. Of particular note is Antonio Romero Spanish sliced ham.

I know I've been mentioning Tillsonburg's Good Pud a lot lately, but with good reason. Their delicious potted desserts couldn't be easier and are sublime. For this New Year's Eve dessert I'm serving their Belgian Dark Chocolate potted dessert, alongside a bit of leftover chocolate panettone.

I might also put out a plate of Bella’s Toffee from Haven’s Creamery, another local favourite. It was the hit of the holiday season; we had to keep re-ordering and re-ordering and have heard nothing but rave reviews.
Alcohol-free beverages are also enjoying rave reviews lately. We are well-stocked with 0%-alcohol spirits, white and red wine, syrups, tonic, garnishes, and bar hardware and glassware to help make your gatherings special. Most recently we've added Tanqueray 0.0% gin.

We're open New Year's Eve until 3pm.
Thank You!
All of us at Jill’s Table thank you for a terrific 2025 and offer our very best wishes to you and yours for a happy and healthy 2026.

Things can feel uncertain lately, but
what I do know is everyone at Jill’s Table will work hard to bring you new and exciting products— ideally from local and domestic makers—and we hope to always provide a warm and welcoming place for you to find the best tools and ingredients to prepare special meals for your friends and family. The value of sharing a meal around the table is immeasurable.

Happy new year!
