HERE'S TO SPRING
Spring is one of my favourite seasons.
There’s Easter to look forward to, and it looks like many of us will be able to resume our cherished family gatherings this year.
I wait with anticipation as the perennials start to peek through my garden and the trees start to bud. I’m lucky to have a home surrounded by magnificent trees—they are a constant source of beauty and peacefulness.

Some of that beauty from the natural world can be found in wood products at Jill’s Table. Over the years we have proudly expanded our range of unique and hand-crafted offerings from some immensely talented local artisans.
Mike Sbrocca’s bowls have had a home at Jill’s Table for more than two years. This Windsor artist works with a variety of woods including cherry, maple and oak and we offer his creations in a broad range of styles and sizes. They are all simply spectacular.

Trevor Ewart, a talented woodworker from Kitchener-Waterloo, has been supplying us with his one-of-a-kind baguette and charcuterie boards for many years. His stunning entertaining boards are ideal to place on a kitchen island, and perhaps just what you need if you’re hosting family and loved ones this Easter. Pair one of Trevor’s creations with On Boards, the Canadian-authored cookbook on transforming simple foods into beautiful boards. Add some of our fabulous condiments and products and together they make for a very special gift for any occasion.

Doug Magrath of London has put his focus on exquisitely crafted salt and pepper mills. He wisely chose a grinding mechanism that allows either salt or pepper to be used in each mill. (Each is one of a kind so these are not available online; please visit us in store).
Speaking of salt and pepper, these two ingredients might be the most “taken for granted” ingredients in your kitchen. Maybe it’s time to rethink this! We take pride in offering a large selection of superb salts and quality peppercorns. One of my favourite tastings to feature in our cooking classes is salts. Exposing guests to the wonders of Kosher salt, French sea salts, and Maldon salt from England is a game-changer. People are astonished by how salts can taste so differently.

For dessert, keep scrolling for a recipe for maple blancmange, which showcases La Fabrick whiskey maple syrup. Yes, there’s a pinch of salt in the recipe!
And lastly for now, if you are looking for a really easy Easter treat for dessert, consider our ready-to-enjoy Fiascanaro Colomba, a delicious Easter version of Christmas panettone made in the shape of a dove. We have both orange and chocolate this year.
As I end it here, I look to new beginnings—what spring and Easter are all about. Weddings, baby showers, and other happy occasions begin to dot our calendars and I feel our gift services revving up once again with the team preparing wedding registries, building gift baskets, and delivering more gift-wrapped items.
As always. we look forward to seeing you at Jill’s Table and helping you welcome this new season. Here’s to spring!
