March is a terrific month. It includes the first day of spring (March 20), March Break (the week of the 16th), St. Patrick's Day (March 17), and Sunday March 8 is International Women’s Day.
|
The shelves at Jill's Table are filled with many products from women-led businesses, and I welcome this annual opportunity to shine a little light on a few of them each year. For 2026, we're showcasing three women-led businesses who supply us with some wonderful housewares.

Hilborn Pottery has been in existence since 1975, started by Nancy Hilborn. Today, daughter Lisa and her partner Tyler Laycock are at the helm and continue to produce distinctive and functional pottery. We love the variety of forms and wide range of colours that this microwave-safe, oven-safe and dishwasher-safe pottery affords. When photographing our warm potato salad (recipe shared and pictured below), we served it in a beautiful piece of Hilborn pottery and really loved the look.

When a small team of us from Jill's Table attended the recent Toronto Gift + Home Market, we were quickly enchanted by Andrea Pyle of Studio on 10th from British Columbia. She shared how the business started as a way to get her daughter Emma through university, and now Andrea's own mother is involved too. Three generations!
|
|
Designed and printed in Canada, we've chosen to carry their beautiful French linen tea towels. Some feature Emma’s beautiful paintings, while others include charming text & prose. The designs are fresh, elegant and delicate and are especially perfect for spring.

Also new to Jill's Table are these cute and charismatic porcelain milk pitchers from from Montreal's Formenton. Established in 1954, sisters Anne-Marie and Marie-Claude joined in 1995 and 1996, respectively, and have been working together ever since... which is now 30 years. Amazing!
I love the chic Montreal aesthetic of Anne-Marie's artwork adorning their housewares. And, of course, I'm always happy to welcome another bee-themed item to the store!

The launch of our new Spring/Summer cooking classes is coming up quickly! Tickets will become available on Wednesday March 18 at 10 a.m.
The past few class seasons have sold out fairly quickly, so please be sure to mark your calendars if you are interested. We are excited for the new season, which could include some new guest chefs! This includes Nik Manojlovich, founder of one of our favourite brands, Weekend At The Cottage. (The photo you're seeing is Weekend At The Cottage's Garlicky Sun-dried Tomato Dip served on the new "‘Madeleine" round serving platter from Emile Henry.)

March also signals the return of “Marvelous Mondays”, each Monday at Jill’s Table (in-store only). To kick things off, on Monday March 2 (today) we are offering a complimentary Favuzzi pasta with the purchase of any Favuzzi pasta sauce. That's a dinner for four for as little as $9.99.
|
|
We will post our Monday specials on Instagram and Facebook throughout the month of March.

Did you know that anyone with a birthday before March 20 is a Pisces? I only bring it up as a shameless excuse to to tell you about the super-cute fish-themed items we brought home from the Toronto trade shows. Fish, cats, and dogs... all hot this year! We revamped our front display window to show them off, and hope you'll get a kick out of them too.
|
Construction is slated to begin this month on the Queen’s Bridge this month, with reduced lanes on Queen Street between Museum London and Labatt Park. Note this is the bridge on the north side only, so anyone heading east into downtown shouldn't be affected.

Here’s to March and the much-anticipated beginning of Spring. Hope to see you in the store!

Delicious when served both warm and cold, this is the perfect year-round potato salad. Looks especially inviting in this Hilborn Pottery piece!
