Hello
from Jill

Albeit a little late this year, fall’s grandeur has finally arrived… spectacularly! Autumn’s warm days and cool nights are such a pleasure, especially with farmers’ markets overflowing after a bountiful harvest season. Fall truly has some of the year’s most satisfying days.

It's a season full of simple pleasures, basic things like noticing how enjoyable a warm drink can be. Whether a steaming café-au-lait in the morning, a cup of afternoon or after-dinner tea, or an evening hot cocoa... it’s worth taking the time to enjoy each one.
Consider treating yourself or someone you love to handmade Portuguese espresso cups, an authentic made-in-England Brown Betty teapot, a French press from Bodum, charming new tea cozies and ceramics from Ulster Weavers, or gluten-free hot chocolate mix in a cute glass milk bottle from Sillycow Farms.
Another simple fall treat? Soup! Soup is always comforting and delicious, but especially so as we head into cooler weather. Today we’re sharing one of my favourite soup recipes: Leek and Potato. It’s straight out of my new cookbook, Jill’s Favourites, 25 of my very favourite recipes to celebrate 25 years in business. We’re thrilled with the book’s positive response so far, and all proceeds go to my charitable foundation that supports food-related initiatives for women and children.

Speaking of the store’s anniversary, thank you to all who were able to attend our Anniversary Open House. It was truly moving and heartwarming to see and celebrate with so many friendly faces!

We had hoped to launch our new special edition extra virgin olive oil from Viola in Umbria during the celebration days, but the shipment unfortunately did not arrive in time. But it's here now, and we can't wait for you to taste it.
This special oil is from Marco Viola, one of Italy's premier olive oil producers. We specially commissioned its bottling for our 25th anniversary and it will be a wonderful addition to your pantry to be used drizzled over pasta, vegetables and so much more. I’m also recommending it as your new “go to” hostess gift; a bottle of extra virgin olive oil lasts much longer than a bottle of wine. If you haven’t tasted it yet, be sure to ask for a sample on your next visit to the store.

We teased you with other products from our new 25th anniversary product collection in an email a few weeks ago, but they were not yet available for purchase. They’re all now available both in-store and online, so we’ll post links below.

I hope you’re able to savour the beauty and grandeur of fall. We’ll be in touch soon with another very short but important newsletter, so stay tuned! 😊
