Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which means it's time for some healthy reflection on gratitude.
For me, gratitude begins with family, and I'm thankful every day for the joy mine brings. When I think about our grandchildren, from the little ones all the way through to our eldest—who has just begun his journey at university— I'm reminded of how quickly time flies and how essential it is to make time for shared moments.

Speaking of time flying, our year-long 25th store anniversary celebrations have been wonderful. I’m so grateful to not only the incredible Jill's Table team but also to you, our loyal customers who continue to support us. Thank you!

All proceeds from Jill's Favourites, our 25th anniversary cookbook, continue to fund my charitable foundation that supports women and children in food-related initiatives. Funding recipients this year include Mission Services/Rotholme, Merrymount, Investing in Children, the John Howard Society, and WeCanN. I'm grateful for the many incredible things these varied organizations do.

It’s also been a fabulous year for culinary tours—this year we took four groups to Portugal and the Basque region of Spain in partnership with Taste of Europe Tours. I'm grateful to have been able to enjoy some personal travel to Europe and Ireland over the summer, too. The year so far is full of fond memories of remarkable meals and great conversations shared with so many wonderful people. I continue to marvel at how food can bring people together!

We have much to look forward to in the coming months. Thanksgiving is a week away, on Monday, October 13. Next, tickets for our winter cooking class series will be available in first week of November; stay tuned for details. Finally our annual open house is planned for November 12 to 14, and we'll send information about that soon too.

As we prepare to gather with friends and family this Thanksgiving, I’m reminded how food brings us closer—each dish, pan, and utensil carrying tradition, comfort, and family memories. But there’s always room for new traditions! Here are some helpful product and recipe suggestions to help make your gatherings special.

Specials on Staub this fall are particularly great. Staub cocottes are consistently among our best sellers and are ideal for making soups, stews and so much more. This is a good opportunity to make an investment in one of these versatile vessels, whether for yourself or as a fabulous gift.

Sauté pans are an essential kitchen workhorse, and this Henckels Aragon set with a fry & steamer basket and lid really caught our eye. This basket can also be used for blanching, cooking dumplings and some styles of pasta.

With many people switching to induction cooktops, we were thrilled to confirm that our Hestan roasters are induction friendly (and currently on sale). Perfect for making rich, flavorful gravy right on the stovetop after your holiday turkey.

Great news! Hilborn Pottery is back on our shelves. This second-generation family business has been producing Canadian handmade pottery since 1975. Their smaller pieces make for fabulous hostess gifts, or their lovely serving pieces are a lovely way to treat yourself.

Is your stemware looking a little tired? At the recent trade shows in Toronto we sourced out a lovely line of stemware from Crystalex from Czechoslovakia. Take a peek!

On the food front, we are thrilled to be hosting Canadian cookbook author Anna Olson for a book signing this Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
I can’t wait to make many of the delicious recipes from her new book Anna Cooks.
We’ve chosen a fabulous carrot, apple and 5-spice soup recipe from the book to whet your appetite, and are happy to have received permission* to share it with you.

At my house this year, our family Thanksgiving feast is starting with an easy appetizer of baked brie featuring Diablo Sabrosa spiced pecans and cashews, drizzled with either honey or whiskey maple syrup. Yum! Here's the recipe.

Maple panettones from Viva/Favuzzi in Montreal are spectacular and we're excited that they've arrived early this year. They'll make a great dessert anytime over the holidays... starting now! To go with it, we have an incredibly easy and delicious recipe for no-churn maple ice cream.

I hope you're able to share some time with your friends and family over a delicious meal this Thanksgiving. I know I’m ever-appreciative to gather around a table with mine.
