February gets a bad rap, but it’s actually filled with fun and tasty celebrations. Saturday the 10th is Chinese New Year, then Wednesday the 14th is Valentine's Day, and finally Monday the 19th is Family Day. It may not have the greatest weather, but February has plenty to enjoy.

February 10th is Chinese New Year, and this will be the Year of the Dragon. My family has a long history of celebrating Chinese New Year; in the 1960s, my father sponsored a young chef from China and it led to a lifelong friendship—and the introduction to flavours so astonishingly good that I am certain it had a profound influence on my future in food.
At Jill's Table, we’re excited to have started carrying a fabulous line of high-end handmade frozen Shanghainese wontons from The Daily Dumpling WonTon Company out of Toronto. (Did you know? The word "wonton" simply refers to a particular type of dumpling.) These can be served on their own, drizzled with our favourite Proper Heathen Chili Crisp or even something as simple as a nice, high-quality soy sauce.
