When I started Jill’s Table at Covent Garden Market 25 years ago, I pulled out a business card of a woman that I had met at a culinary event in Toronto. Her name was Anna Maria Kalcevich and she was at the helm of a fabulous business in Toronto that imported Italian and Spanish products. She became Jill's Table's first supplier.
Decades later, that business—Pasquale Brothers—is now led by Anna Maria's daughter Christina Kalcevich. These incredible women are among the many amazing female entrepreneurs we have had the privilege to work with over the years, and in honour of International Women’s Day this month we want to take this opportunity to showcase and celebrate a few more.

Jogi Sudnik started working at her mother’s retail store when she was a young girl in Toronto. Jogi now runs Jogi Imports and is responsible for importing three of our favourite products: World’s Best Pot Scrubber and linen dish cloths from Poland, and Univeral Stone from Germany. Jogi is passionate about her products and we invite you to meet her at Jill’s Table on Saturday March 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. where she will be demonstrating her fabulous products.

We were thrilled when Sarah Senior from GoodPud Company dropped off samples of her decadent chocolate puddings. Sisters Polly & Sarah Senior, originally from Yorkshire, England, co-founded and operate GoodPud just up the road in Tillsonburg, Ontario.

Also on a sweet theme, we love Little B Confectionary caramels created by Iona Barnes. Originally from London, Iona developed these decadent caramels and now operates out of of Ladner, British Columbia.

Londoner Jillian Johnston has been involved with Days for Girls since 2014. Her team keeps us supplied with amazing bowl cozies and plate cozies from which proceeds go to support feminine hygiene kits they sew for young women around the world. DfG has distributed thousands of kits to 28 countries so far!
(Each bowl and plate cozy is unique; visit the store to pick out your favourites.)

Mandy’s is true Canadian success story. Sisters Mandy and Rebecca Wolfe started a small salad shop within a clothing store in Montreal. Fast forward and this dynamic duo have restaurants in Montreal, two in Toronto, two cookbooks and a growing range of dressings and sauces under their label.

We’ll be offering in-store tastings of many of these wonderful products from the talented women above throughout March, so be sure to ask about them when you come into the store.
Lastly—and most importantly—a big shout-out to all the wonderful women who make up Jill’s Table. I’m proud to have such a talented and dedicated team!
Here’s to all the important women in your lives; mothers, sisters, aunts, friends, teachers and mentors.
